5th Annual “Share The Warmth” Drive: New hats, gloves and socks being collected at Colonial Federal Savings Bank for donation to the Salvation Army

Quincy, Mass. – Whether this winter is snowy or not, it will be cold. And there are men, women and children in our local communities who would truly appreciate your generous gift of a new warm hat or a good new pair of gloves or socks. Which is why Colonial Federal Savings Bank is sponsoring the 5th Annual “Share The Warmth” drive to collect new hats, gloves and socks for a pre-Christmas donation to the Salvation Army.

“As a neighborhood bank, we’re always looking for ways to help people in the community,” Colonial Federal Treasurer & Chief Operating Officer Susan Shea said. “This seemed like a fun, easy way for people to help others - something that would make both the givers and the recipients happy.”

Donation boxes are available now through Friday, December 13th in the Colonial Federal offices in Quincy, Weymouth and Holbrook.

Practical and/or fashionable warm new hats, gloves and socks are needed for men, women and children. Cash/check donations are also welcome. For questions or to arrange to make a cash/check donation, call Peggy or Kerry at Colonial Federal Savings Bank, 617-471-0750.

With full-service offices in Quincy, East Weymouth and Holbrook, Colonial Federal has been the South Shore’s “neighborhood bank” since 1889. All deposits are insured by the FDIC. The phone number connecting all offices is 617-471-0750.

Buy a grocery tote at Colonial Federal Savings Bank and help someone else eat

Quincy, Mass. – Colonial Federal Savings Bank is selling large grocery totes for a donation of $2 each to raise money for the Interfaith Social Services food pantry in Quincy. The Bank will match all donations with a total of $4 going to Interfaith Social Services for each tote sold.

“Cities and towns in Massachusetts are increasingly banning plastic bags, so everyone has a use for a few good grocery totes,” Colonial Federal Treasurer & Chief Operating Officer Susan Shea said. “It seemed like a win-win to fundraise with these sturdy grocery totes and have the money and a match going to benefit Interfaith Social Services, who have done so much good here in Quincy for more than 70 years.”

Grocery totes are available during business hours at the Colonial Federal Savings Bank Main Office at 15 Beach Street in Wollaston (next to the Post Office) and for residents only at 1000 Southern Artery. Totes are also available at the Colonial Federal branches in Weymouth and Holbrook and donations will be made to The Weymouth and Holbrook Food Pantries respectively.  For questions, call Peggy Loud at 617-471-0750.
